Statement of Faith

What we believe

The Bible is God’s written revelation to man, inspired by the Holy Spirit in every word, and the only source of truth, God’s truth. All Christians are to love God’s word, study and know it and live in obedience and faithfulness to it.

There is only one true and living God, the God and Father of The Lord Jesus Christ as revealed in the Bible. God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ, the second person of the trinity is truly divine and was with God the Father at creation. He became fully human and lived on earth and accomplished our redemption by sacrificially shedding His blood and dying on the cross for our sins. Three days after His death He rose from death and is now at the right hand of the Father in heaven where He intercedes for all believers.

The Holy Spirit, the third person of the trinity, posses all the attributes of God and is at work within the lives of believers. He convicts sinners of their sin and need for salvation and leads and empowers believers to love God, to know the scriptures and to be effective in evangelism. The Holy Spirit administers spiritual gifts to the church.

Man was created by God in His image, free of sin, with the intention of bringing glory to God. In Adam all have fallen in sin, and are sinners under the wrath of God.

Salvation is wholly the work of God by His grace. As sinners, men and women are totally unable to save themselves nor choose to be saved. Men and women are saved and put right with God through faith in The Lord Jesus Christ. In the work of salvation, God draws men and women to faith in The Lord Jesus Christ.

The Church is the body of all believers who each are to belong to a local church where they live. The Lord Jesus Christ is building His Church. The church is to provide leadership, love, fellowship, care and teaching to all members. Through life in the church all believers are helped to grow to know and love The Lord Jesus Christ and to reach out to the lost with the Gospel.

There are two ordinances of the church which The Lord Jesus Christ commands. One is baptism, the outward sign of repentance and faith in Christ. Baptism is by immersion in water following a confession of faith in Christ. The other ordinance is The Lord’s Supper, an opportunity to remember the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

All believers, those who place their faith in The Lord Jesus Christ, have been born again to a living hope for all eternity. When they die they go in their spirit to be with The Lord Jesus Christ.

Unbelievers at death are punished for their rejection of The Lord Jesus Christ and will spend eternity in the fire of hell, separated from God and His people.

The Lord Jesus Christ is coming a second time as He promised. This time He will come to judge sinners. When Jesus returns, believers, both living and dead, do not undergo judgement but will be taken to heaven with The Lord to receive a new resurrection body.

How a Person is Saved?

To have salvation, a person must come to the realisation of their utter sinfulness and unworthiness before God, and know that He will punish them for their sins. A person must know that Jesus Christ died to take the punishment for their sins and that salvation and forgiveness of sin is found only through faith in Him. Salvation requires the repenting of (turning away from) sins and faith in The Lord Jesus Christ. Following salvation a person is to become a member of a local church and be committed to growing in The Lord through the scriptures, prayer and fellowship with other believers.
